How to Print from iPhone to Brother Printer

Brother printers are workhorses — popular in offices, schools, and homes for their low running cost and reliability. The good news: nearly every Brother model from the last decade supports AirPrint, so iPhone printing works the same way as any other brand.

Method 1: Print Using AirPrint

All modern Brother MFC, DCP, HL, and QL printers support AirPrint.

1. Make sure your Brother printer and iPhone are on the same WiFi.
2. Open the content you want to print on your iPhone.
3. Tap Share → scroll down → tap Print.
4. Tap Select Printer → choose your Brother model.
5. Set copies, quality, paper size → tap Print.

Method 2: Use Brother iPrint&Scan App

Install the free Brother iPrint&Scan app for:

• Scanning from printer to iPhone (PDF, JPEG)
• Ink/toner level checks
• Document printing from cloud storage (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive)

Printing Without WiFi: Brother Wi-Fi Direct

1. On the printer: Settings → Network → Wi-Fi Direct → On.
2. Note the network name (DIRECT-xx-Brother-xxx) and password.
3. iPhone: Settings → WiFi → connect to the DIRECT network.
4. Print normally.

Common Brother + iPhone Problems

"No AirPrint Printers Found"

• Confirm both devices on the same WiFi.
• Open Brother iPrint&Scan → tap your printer → tap Check Status.
• Update firmware via Brother iPrint&Scan or the printer's web UI (visit the printer's IP address in Safari).

Brother prints slow first page

This is normal for Brother laser printers — they need a few seconds to warm up the fuser. Inkjet models (MFC-J series) print the first page in about 6–10 seconds.

Toner smearing or fading

The fuser or drum may need replacing. Check the drum life counter in Settings → Machine Info → Parts Life on the printer. Most Brother drums last ~15,000 pages.
